Two years ago, Karlee Mullins had her choice of Mississippi community colleges to attend. She narrowed her list to Meridian, Co-Lin, Southwest, and Jones County Junior College after visiting each and considering which gave her the best opportunity for her soccer future.

Mullins, also heard from some Division 2 schools as one of the best soccer players in the class of 2012.

After considering each, she picked Jones CJC in hopes of winning a State Title. On Sunday, that goal became a reality as Mullins and her Lady Bobcats’ teammates celebrated a 5-0 victory over rival Pearl River in the MACJC State Championship Game.

Jones will play host to Eastern Florida State University this weekend in Ellisville. Game time and date has yet to be determined as of press time.

For Karlee, the daughter of Tony and Jena Mullins of Roxie, the win on Sunday was bittersweet. Last year Jones was upset by PRCC in the state title game, their only loss of the season.

This year the team was motivated by last year’s defeat to capture what PRCC took away from them, and so they did.

If Jones wins this weekend they will head to Melbourne, Fla., for the National Tournament from Nov. 17-22.

Mullins, who collected school and district scoring records during her prep career at Franklin County High has become one of Jones’ top leaders on and off the field.

Her dynamic soccer skill set and leadership qualities have helped Mullins improve her Soccer IQ among some of the State’s elite.

Now comes the next step, representing the state of Mississippi among the nation’s elite.
