Lady Cats clip Enterprise; Jackets sting Bobcats

In a battle of county rivals, the Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats were able to knock off the Enterprise Lady Jackets by a score of 60-42 Thursday night in front of a lively crowd at Enterprise Gymnasium.

In varsity boys’ action, the Enterprise Yellow Jackets defeated Bogue Chitto by a final score of 76-38.

Enterprise will host St. Aloysius Tuesday night with JV boys tipping off at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity girls and boys.

Bogue Chitto 60, Enterprise 42

The Lady Cats (1-0) managed to overcome a sluggish first quarter start and roared to a 51-31 lead after three quarters of action.

Zariah Matthews paced the offensive attack for BC with 16 points and six assists. Mattie Avants netted 11 points and led on the board with eight rebounds. Earlnesheia Dillon and Christian Black contributed 10 points apiece.

“Glad to get the season kicked off with a win,” said BC coach Christi Terrell. “The girls played hard and shot the ball really well. Defensively, we were a little loose, but we will continue to get better. Enterprise did a great job and played hard.”

Hannah Kirtfield was the top scorer for the Lady Jackets (0-1) with 18 points, eight assists and four rebounds. Megan Rippy added eight points and grabbed five rebounds.

The Jackets (1-0) outscored the Bobcats 31-11 in the second quarter to seize control of the game.

“It was good to get the win,” said Enterprise coach John Knight, who is in his sixth year at the helm. “We know they weren’t at full strength due to making the playoffs in football.

“We look forward to a rematch later on in the season when they have all of their players.”

Patrick Scott led the way for Enterprise with 16 points, four assists and three rebounds. John Gray chipped in 10 points and Zach Hodges added nine points to help pace the Jackets.

Jeremiah Perkins’ directed the Bogue Chitto Bobcats (0-1) with a team-high 15 points.
