Lady Bears claim fifth place

CLINTON – The West Lincoln girls placed fifth in the MHSAA 2A State Championship Cross Country meet at Choctaw Trails Saturday. New Site High School was the first place winner in the Girls 4K run.

Leading the Lady Bears was Lillianne Rushing. who posted a time of 18:13. Rushing also was selected as an All-State member.

Lexis Leggett followed Rushing in the race with a time of 19:15. Other West Lincoln leaders were Jana Case, 19:44; Carly Holden, 19:53; and Georganna Allen, 19:59.

In the boys’ race, West Lincoln finished in sixth place in their 5K run. J.Z. George High School was the overall champion.

Jason Watts paced the Bears with a time of 18:49. Matthew Allred followed Watts with a time of 18:59.

Other Bears runners and times were Jordan Montgomery, 20:29; Adam Martinez, 21:27; and Matt Gill, 21:37.
