BA feasts on Bowling Green, Lady Bucs skin Lady Cougars

The Brookhaven Academy Cougars managed to climb back into the win column Thursday night after clobbering the Bowling Green Buccaneers 57-36 at John R. Gray Gymnasium.

In girls action, the Lady Buccaneers overpowered the Lady Cougars to secured a 54-29 victory.

Brookhaven Academy returns to action Tuesday as they prepare to host the Hillcrest Christian Cougars for four games. The junior varsity girls and boys squad tip off at 4 and 5 p.m., followed by varsity action at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Bowling Green 54, BA 29 

Senior guard Lindsey Winborne was the top scorer for the Lady Cougars with 15 points. Mary Claire White contributed nine points.

“Bowling Green is a great team that will challenge you the whole game,” said BA coach Mack Gardner. “The effort that I have come to expect from our team was not there. We did some things really well in the first five minutes of the game. We have to figure out a way to play hard and smart for 32 minutes.”

BA 57, Bowling Green 36 

The Cougars (6-2) needed some home cooking to bounce back from their disappointing loss to Salem last Tuesday as they provided an offensive show for their fans and clobbered the Bucs.

Junior forward Peyton Hood pumped in a game-high 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead BA. Zac Smith and Joshua Wiggins netted 10 points apiece. Smith also helped on the boards with seven rebounds.

Robertson was the offensive leader for the Bucs with eight points and eight rebounds. McCain chipped in seven points and grabbed four rebounds.
