DAILY LEADER / RHONDA DUNAWAY / Mississippi’s First Lady Deborah Bryant was in Brookhaven Wednesday reading to first-graders at Mamie Martin Elementary Library. Corday Peyton gives the first lady a hug (above) while Gracie Boswell, Brooklyn Givens, Gerald Gallaway and Markel Smith wait their turn to greet the governor’s wife. Bryant wants to help ensure that all Mississippi children get a comprehensive education that will prepare them to be successful adults. For 2014 she will “Read Across Mississippi” to students (K-3) in all Mississippi counties. “I decided this year that I would read to kids in every county of Mississippi,” she said. Bryant was heading to Wesson Wednesday for her next reading.
