BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats captured a huge 13-3 victory over the West Lowndes Panthers in baseball action in the first round of the Class 1A state playoffs Thursday afternoon.

“It was great to put together a complete game offensively and defensively,” said BC coach Russ Carter. “The guys hit the ball really well and our pitcher threw a great game. It is always good to win the first game and hopefully this is a confidence builder as we prepare for Game Two.”

The Bobcats (9-14) will travel to Columbus to take on West Lowndes again for Game Two and Game Three, if needed. Game time is set for 5 p.m.

Bogue Chitto 13, West Lowndes 3 

The Bobcats kicked off Game One of the state playoffs with a bang as they put on an offensive show for their baseball fans and hammered the Panthers of Columbus in six innings of work.

Bogue Chitto overpowered West Lowndes 7-0 in the first two innings of action, before the Panthers could answer in the top of the third inning by pushing across three runs.

The Bobcats did not let West Lowndes advance any further as they outscored the Panthers 6-0 in the final innings to secure the win.

Steven Ginn was the winning pitcher for the Bobcats with two strikeouts and no walks.

Wendell Reeves suffered the loss for the Panthers with four strikeouts and three walks.

Keith Wells and Joey Elliot sparked Bogue Chitto’s offense with a home run and a double apiece. Brock Roberts fueled the flames with a home run and a single. Brooks Ingle contributed a double and three singles. Tucker Lambert provided a double and a single. Ginn had two singles. Hitting safely were Landon Roberts and Nick Parker.

Tyler Brown paced West Lowndes at the plate with a double and a single. Fred Clark ripped a pair of singles. Adolphus Brewer had a double. Eric Crawford and Marcus Farmer hit safely.
