Bikers enjoy success at the Mississippi Gran Prix

DAILY LEADER / JONATHON ALFORD / Andrew Hammond of Palmer Cycling finished fourth in the the Bike Crossing Mississippi Gran Prix’s Bank of Brookhaven of Brookhaven Criterium.

The Mississippi Gran Prix was a big success in Lincoln and Copiah counties as over 150 bikers participated in 6 different divisions in the three day event.

Zach Allison, of Think Finance, was winner of the Friday night’s Bank of Brookhaven Downtown Criterium. He also finished first in the Category 1-2-3, which went 3 laps or 82 miles in the road race at the Lake Lincoln heat.

Bryant Funston, Amateur Cycling, was second and Nicholas Coil, Think Finance, was third. Brookhaven native Frank Moak, of Palmer Cycling, placed eleventh in the overall event.

In the Masters division, Randy Domingue was first and Timothy Doiron second. In the Cat 3-4, Jacob Schoen took first place and Dannie Medlin was second. In Cat 4-5, Jacob Schoen was first and Dannie Medlin second. Both divisions went 2 laps or 54 miles.

The final 3 divisions went 1 lap or 27 miles.

In the women’s division, Marda Kaiser Rehneit took first place and Amy Floyd was runner-up. In the junior division, Patton Sims won first and Leopoid Marx was second.
