Lincoln County teams win opener in Bude

BUDE – The Lincoln County Americans and the Nationals Coach-Pitch All-Stars captured opening round wins Friday night in the Dixie Youth Baseball AA All-Star 7&8-year-old Sub-District Six Tournament at Leroy “Cowboy” Jones Memorial Field.

The Lincoln County Americans destroyed Natchez 15-3 in the opener. In the nightcap, the Lincoln County Nationals narrowly beat the Franklin County All-Stars 11-10.

Saturday’s continuation of the tournament consisted of five games. The Championship is scheduled for Monday, starting at 6 p.m.

Lincoln Co. Americans 15, Natchez 3

The Lincoln County Americans came out timid in the first inning before revving up to overpowered the Natchez All-Stars with numerous hits.

The Americans scored two runs in the second, three runs in the third and three in the fourth, before opening up the flood gates in the fifth inning with a seven-run explosion.

The Natchez All-Stars managed to break up the Americans’ bid for a shutout in the bottom of the fifth when they put together a three-run inning, but fell short in the end.

Lincoln Co. Nationals 11, Franklin County 10 

The Lincoln Nationals and the Franklin County All-Stars provided an exciting offensive thriller for their baseball fans.

Both teams came out ready to play. Franklin County quickly set the tone of the game in the first inning when they grabbed a 2-0 lead.

The Lincoln Nationals battled back to take a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the second. The Franklin All-Stars tied the game, 3-3 in the top of the third.

The Nationals reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the third with a three-run jolt.

Franklin County refused to go down quietly. They fought in the top of the fifth with a five-run blast giving them a 10-8 lead.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Nationals spoiled the All-Stars’ attempt at victory. They rallied back to score three runs and held tight in the sixth inning for the win.
