Lady Wolves softball team receives academic honors

WESSON – The 2014 Co-Lin softball team has been recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association as the No. 11 academic team of the year for their sport. In 2013 the Lady Wolves finished No. 2, in 2012 they were No. 5, and in 2011 they finished No. 6 in the nation.

The Lady Wolves finished the year with a 3.44 grade point average. Team members include Kacie Berry of Hazlehurst, Kristen Byrd and Julian Johnson, both of Monticello; Kaitlan Cooksey of McComb, Kayla Craft and Brooke Gonzales, both of Denham Springs, Louisiana; Beth Fortenberry of Natchez, Meghan Johnson of Utica, Savannah Johnston, Breanna McKenzie and Hannah Roberts, all of Summit; Brooke Laigast of Covington, Louisiana; Missy Romero of Canyon Lakes, Texas; Payton Sheffield of Hattiesburg, Adrienne Wallace and Rheagan Welch, both of Bogue Chitto.

The Lady Wolves are coached by head coach Allen Kent and assistant coach Duane Burt.
