Lady Hornets, Jaguars capture wins in downtown meet

Brookhaven High School’s Cross Country team hosted a cross country meet in downtown Brookhaven last Saturday morning. Teams participating were from Brookhaven, West Lincoln, Loyd Star, North Pike and Lawrence County.
The Loyd Star Lady Hornets captured first place as a team in the girls division. Brookhaven took second place and West Lincoln placed third.
In the boys 5K run, North Pike won first place. Loyd Star secured second place and West Lincoln took third place.
Here are the winners in the individual events: Girls 7th and 8th Grade: First Place – Jordan Fries, BHS; Second Place – Abby Roberts, BHS; Third Place – Hannah Junkin.
Boys 7th and 8th Grade: First Place – Roberto Galindo, LS; Second Place – Jonathan Mathis, WL; Third Place – Dane Smith, LS.
Girls 9th and 10th Grade: First Place – Abby Thomas, LS; Second Place – Olivia Parton, NP; Third Place – Faith Bergeron, LS.
Boys 9th and 10th Grade: First Place – Caleb McCreary, BHS; Second Place – Austin Williams, NP; Third Place – Jordan Montgomery, WL.
Girls 11th and 12th Grade: First Place – Lexis Leggett, WL; Second Place – Julie Smith, LS; Third Place – Lillianne Rushing, WL.
Boys 11th and 12th Grade: First Place – Jason Watts, WL; Second Place – Nathan Lambert, LS; Third Place – Derrick Thurman, NP.
