SPRINGFIELD, La. – The Springfield Louisiana-based Bulldogs kickoff their 2014 season with a 33-12 victory over visiting Loyd Star Hornets.

Senior running back Brett Calcote scored two rushing touchdowns in the third quarter for the Hornets.

Calcote was Loyd Star’s offensive leader on the field with 12 rushes for 70 yards. Parker Flowers led the aerial attack completing five-of-14 passes for 62 yards. Peyton Flowers led all receivers with three catches for 51 yards.

Defensively, Peyton Flowers had another great night for the Hornets lead in the team with 28 tackles. Calcote provided eight stops and Parker Flowers had seven tackles. Cody Smith and Anfernee Claire recovered a fumble each. Ray Richardson intercepted a pass.

Loyd Star returns home this Friday to the Lake in a battle of Hornets. Kickoff is set the start at 7 p.m.
