The winless Enterprise Yellow Jackets suffered an disappointing 58-8 loss to the Leake County Gators Friday night in high school football action at Harry Cole Field.
“Leake County has a strong and physical ball club,” said Enterprise coach Brooke Burns. “Our guys played hard and did not quit. We were just outmatched in size and depth.”
The Jackets scored their only points in the contest when Zach Hodges connected with Layne Brown for a five-yard touchdown pass. Chance Lacking punched in the two-point conversion on a three-yard run.
Sophomore running back Chance Lacking was the offensive leader for the win-starved Jackets (0-4) with nine carries for 40 yards rushing.
Defensively, Devon Kirtfield paced Enterprise with eight tackles. Braxton Thompson, Austin Coleman and Dalton Wilcoxson contributed 7 stops apiece. Jonathon Britt recovered a fumble.
The Jackets will resume action this Friday as they prepare to host their Lincoln County foe the Loyd Star Hornets. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
