WESSON – Despite a late goal by Copiah-Lincoln sophomore Hannah Linnell, the Southwest Lady Bears were able to hold off the Lady Wolves 2-1 in Wesson on Tuesday. Linnell, a sophomore from Star, scored on a free kick with less than 45 seconds remaining in the match. She sent a ball into the box that beautifully curled past Lady Bear keeper Hayley Allen.

Southwest got on the board first when Nicole Daigle sent in a rocket from over 25 feet out. Her shot hit the goalpost before sliding into the goal past Co-Lin keeper Destiny Allen. Daigle scored her second goal of the match in the second half when she sent a dribbler past Allen. The Lady Bears led 1-0 at halftime.

In the men’s match it was all Southwest as the Bears took a 5-0 win over Co-Lin. Southwest led 3-0 at halftime and scored their three goals on their only three shots. Denver Bankston led Southwest with two goals.
