BSW wins TNT Youth Super Bowl

SUMMIT – The Brookhaven Southern Wildcats won the 6-8 year old division TNT Youth Football League Super Bowl championship last Sunday

The Wildcats knocked off the Natchez Falcons 14-12 in Saturday matchup to advance to Sunday title game.

In Sunday’s championship contest, BSW defeated the Tylertown Rams 16-8 to win their first ever championship for Brookhaven in the program four year history.

“Great Job for these young men in our Brookhaven community,” said President: Stacy Fells, Jr, Southern Wildcats Youth Football League and Jason Dixon Vice-President.

In the 9-10 year old league action, BSW was eliminated in Saturday’s competition.

BSW 14, Falcons 12 

Elijah Calcote powered the Wildcats with 119 rushing yards. Calcote scored two rushing touchdowns on sprints of 40 and 65 yards.

Markel Smith contributed 25 yards to the Wildcats rushing attack and scored a two-point conversion.

Defensively, Smith was the leader for BSW with eight tackles. Calcote provided four tackles. Rontell Williams and Cory Smith had two tackles each.

BSW 16, Rams 8 

Calcote showed off his skills on offense to lead the Wildcats. Calcote rushed for 185 yards and scored two touchdowns on runs of 25 and 70 yards.

Cory Smith and Zach Moore cashed in the two-point conversion.

Markel Smith aided the Wildcats ground attack with 40 yards rushing.

Defensively, Calcote powered the BSW surge with seven tackles. Markel Smith contributed four tackles.
