Lady Wolves clobber Ms. Delta, Men falls

MOORHEAD – The Co-Lin Lady Wolves did not let the week long Thanksgiving holiday break disrupt their undefeated 7-0 start as they overpowered the Mississippi Delta Lady Trojans 78-57 on the road Monday night in JUCO basketball action.
In the mens’ game, the Wolves (2-5) had a tough time guarding Darius Dukes as he had a hot hand for Ms. Delta with a game-high 26 points to lead the Trojans to a 69-45 victory.
Co-Lin begins South Division action on the road this Thursday as they prepare to travel to Utica to take on the Hinds Bulldogs. Women’s action tips off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the mens’ game at 7:30 p.m.
Lady Wolves 78, Lady Trojans 57
The Lady Wolves and Lady Trojans came out and battle in a close contest in the first half of action as Co-Lin carried a slim 31-30 lead into halftime.
In the second half of action, Co-Lin managed to find their groove offensively and quickly knocked off their holiday rust as they roared past the Lady Trojans with a 47-29 run to secure the win.
Sophomore guard Claresa Banks powered the Lady Wolves attack as she lead four players in double figures with 20 points. Kristal Flowers contributed 13 points. Kelley Allen chipped in with a double-double performance with 12 points and 17 rebounds. Jamilah Sanders netted 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Antonique McGee was the top scorer for the Lady Trojans with 14 points. Aqueshia Kimble provided 12 points and was the leader on the boards with seven rebounds. Niya Head added nine points and had six rebounds.
Ms. Delta 69, Co-Lin 45
The mens contest was somewhat similar to the women’s game as the Wolves and Trojans fought hard in a low scoring first half as Ms. Delta carried a 28-22 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Trojans came out on fire as they turned up the heat offensively to hammer the Wolves with a 41-23 run to secure the win.
Donte’ Watson was the only player on the Wolves squad to reach double digits in scoring with 10 points as 15 players received quality playing time.
Terry Morris was the second leading scorer with eight points and Jordan Lumpkins added seven points and was the leader on the boards with seven rebounds.
Dukes powered the Trojans with a game-high 26 points to lead three players in double figures. Zamarius Griffin and Jaylen Ford chipped in with 13 points apiece. Ondarious Hamline was the top rebounder for the Trojans with nine rebounds. Travon Harper grabbed seven rebounds.
