Brookhaven’s Darrian Wilson on the MAC All-Star Team

Junior guard Darrian Wilson will be representing the Brookhaven High School Panthers in the boys’ MAC/Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center All-Star Classic in Clinton at the at A.E. Wood Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi College.

The boys’ game will start approximately at 7:30 p.m., after the girls’ All-Star game at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 27.

Darrian Wilson  is averaging 8.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game in his junior year for Brookhaven. The Panthers currently has a 17-2 record on the season with a 2-0 record in Region 6-5A action.

Wilson, 16, is also a member of the football and baseball teams. He is an honor student, who has made the Superintendent Scholars or Honor Roll each nine weeks.

Darrian is also a member of the National Honor Society, a student representative on the Brookhaven Healthy Hometown Committee and a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha (Mu Pi Lambda Chapter) Beaus. He was a member of the state winning Brookhaven High School drumline in the ninth and tenth grades.

“Darrian has a very high IQ for the game of basketball and has a very competitive heart,” said Brookhaven boys basketball coach Preston Wilson. “Just watching him from a young child in my practices to actually playing for me has been a great joy.”

Joining Wilson on this year South All-Star squad are Anthony Jones of Wesson, Devon Benson of Laurel, DeAnthony Bowie of West Harrison, Antonio Cowart of McComb, Eddie Galloway Jr. of Provine, Darius Hicks of Quitman, Evan Howard of D’Iberville, KaDerrion Mason of McComb, Enriques Milton of Provine, Jarius Smith of Raymond and Stacee St. Julian of Saint Martin. The South Boys coaches are Darrin Chancellor of Florence and Otis Gaines II of Provine.

A three-point shootout, free throw shooting and a slam-dunk contest will start the festivities prior to the All-Star Games.
