Wesson falls twice to Franklin Co.

MEADVILLE – The Franklin County Bulldogs hosted the Wesson Cobras Friday night for a big Region 7-3A test in Meadville.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Cobras fought hard but lost to the Lady Bulldogs in the final three minutes of the game with a final score of 46-52.

In boys’ action, the Cobras and Bulldogs played a tight game with the Bulldogs pulling a 61-48 win.

The Bulldogs travel to visit the Hazlehurst Indians Tuesday night to play the Hazlehurst Indians. The Cobras will host Crystal Springs Tuesday night to face the Tigers. Girls play at 6 p.m., and the varsity boys play at 7:30.

Franklin County 52, Wesson 46

The Wesson Lady Cobras led the entire game but fell behind in the last few minutes of the game, which allowed the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs to pull out the win with a final score of 46-52.

Top Lady Cobra player, senior Kayla Britt, had a point total of 16 with five rebounds and three steals. Sophomore Aurianna Vaughn scored a total of 12 points, which included two three-pointers and had four rebounds and two steals. The Lady Cobras averaged 11/19 from the free throw line.

Franklin County’s Jaylin Autmann scored 16 points for the Lady Bulldogs and had seven rebounds and three steals. Tadayla Hunt was also a top scorer for the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points which included four three-pointers and had one steal and two rebounds. The Lady Bulldogs were 11/21 in free throw action.

Franklin County 61, Wesson 48 

The Franklin County Bulldogs defeated the Wesson Cobras with a final score of 61-48 Friday night.

For the Cobras’, sophomore Tyler Robinson was the top scorer with 16 points and had five rebounds and two steals. Another top Cobra player was senior Dartavious Dixon had 15 points and had seven rebounds and four steals. The Cobras were 8/16 in free throws.

Top scorer for the Bulldog’s was Danzel Adams, who totaled 21 points, which included three three-pointers and had seven rebounds and two steals. Vincent Briggs was another top player with a point total of 14, which included two three-pointers, had three steals and six rebounds. The Bulldogs had an average of 14/19 in free throw action.
