WESSON – Copiah-Lincoln freshman catcher Jessica Crum has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Softball Player of the Week.

Crum went 8-13 at the plate with 14 RBIs, two homeruns, and two walks in a 2-2 week for the Lady Wolves. Her batting average for the week was .615 and she struck out once. Crum put Co-Lin ahead of Itawamba in extra innings with a 3-run homer before the Lady Indians came back in the bottom of the inning to take an 8-7 win. Crum finished with six RBIs in that game. Later in the week, against Mississippi Delta, Crum hit a 2-run homer in game two and a 3-run double in game one. Through six games this season she has hit three homeruns.

Crum, a graduate of Dutchtown High School (La.), was selected state player of the week previous to garnering the national award. She is the first Lady Wolf to win a national award since pitcher Rebecca Rousseau was named pitcher of the week in 2009.
