WESSON – Copiah-Lincoln freshman guard point guard Alexis Collins has been named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) player of the week. The Forest Hill High alum averaged 20 points, five assists, four steals, and three rebounds per game for the 24-0 Lady Wolves.
Forced to step up her scoring load after leading scorer Claresa Banks went down with an injury against Meridian, Collins responded with a career high tying 22 points (9-14 from the floor) in an 80-45 win over Gulf Coast. Collins grabbed six steals and was a major force in causing 28 Lady Bulldog turnovers.
Earlier in the week against Meridian Collins scored 18 points in 39 minutes of action in a tough 98-85 Lady Wolves win. She was also outstanding as a distributor in that game, handing out seven assists without a turnover. Co-Lin is currently ranked No. 18 in the NJCAA Top 25 poll.
