Bears sweep doubleheader over Amite County

The West Lincoln Bears secured a sweep over the Amite County Trojans in a varsity doubleheader Tuesday night in Region 7-2A baseball action.
The Bears blanked the Trojans 12-0 in Game One as Seth Bivens threw a no-hitter. In the second game, West Lincoln continued to dominate Amite County as the Bears collected a 17-1 victory.
The Bears (4-7, 3-1) will take the rest of the week off before returning to action Saturday as they prepare to host the Bogue Chitto Bobcats. Junior varsity action is set to begin at 11 a.m., followed by the varsity contest at 1 p.m.

Seth Bivens provided a strong pitching performance on the mound on Tuesday, throwing a no-hitter in the West Lincoln Bears Varsity’s 12-0 victory over Amite County.
Amite County’s batters struggle to locate Bivens’ pitches throughout the game, while Bivens struck out five batters and walked three to collect this momentous feat.
West Lincoln plated six runs in the first three innings action to sparked the Bears in the blow out win over Amite County.
A groundout by Ty Forman during the first inning and a solo home run by Lofton Sills, a walk by Nathanael Addison, a steal of home by Austin Burris, an error, and an RBI single by Alex Neal in the second inning supplied the early offense for the West Lincoln.
Lofton Sills reached base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI.
Amite County’s Pitcher ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed 12 runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked five and struck out one.
West Lincoln 17, Amite Co. 1
In the second game, the Bears continued their hot hitting streak in the first inning of action, scoring 10 runs to take a 10-1 lead over Amite County.
West Lincoln blasted the Trojans with seven more runs in the bottom of the second inning to secure the win in three innings of action.
Hunter Maxwell was the winning pitcher for West Lincoln with five strikeouts and no walks.
Ty Forman provided the spark to lead the Bears at the plate with a grand slam home run. Maxwell added fuel to the flames with a home run and a single. Lofton Sill contributed a double and a single. Bryce Temple ripped two singles. Brady Thompson had a double. Hitting safely were Alex Neal and Bivens.
