Lady Bears claim two victories

The West Lincoln Lady Bears captured two big wins in fastpitch softball action Monday and Tuesday.
In Monday’s action, the Lady Bears crushed the East Marion Lady Eagles 15-0 to gain a big win in Region 7-2A action.
In Tuesday’s game, West Lincoln thumped the Wesson Lady Cobras 11-1 in non-divisional action.
The Lady Bears (5-6, 2-1) will be in action Thursday as they travel to Columbia to face the East Marion Lady Eagles again for another big district test. Junior varsity action is set to begin at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.
The Lady Cobras will also be on the road Thursday as they visit the West Marion Lady Trojans. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.
West Lincoln 15, East Marion 0
The Lady Bears came out and quickly dominated the Lady Eagles to secure the win in a three-inning contest.
Malori Hall (3K, 1BB) and Megan Gerald (1K, 0BB) combined together pitch a no hit shutout for West Lincoln.
Skyler Sistrunk was the losing pitcher for the Lady Eagles with one strikeout and one walk.
Brianna Fauver powered the Lady Bears’ offense with three singles. Addie Spring and Layton Sills contributed two singles apiece. Makennah Redd provided a double. Hitting safely were Millane Lewis, Hanna Moak, Malori Hall, Megan Gerald, Anna Brooke Davis and Alli Mullins.
In junior varsity action, West Lincoln blanked East Marion 12-0
McKenzie Pyles pitched the win for the Lady Bears with five strikeouts and four walks.
Skylar Hall paced West Lincoln’s offense with a double and a single. Megan Gerald ripped a pair of singles. Jana Case had a double. Sara Jane Doty and Ashley Thomas hit safely.
West Lincoln 11, Wesson 1
The Lady Bears continued their hot hitting streak in Tuesday action against Wesson at home as West Lincoln outhit the Lady Cobras 14-4 in five innings of action.
West Lincoln overpowered Wesson on the scoreboard to claim a 7-0 advantage in four innings of play.
The Lady Cobras managed to break up the Lady Bears shutout in the top of the fifth inning by scoring one run.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, West Lincoln added four more run to secure the win on the mercy rule.
Micah Redd was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bears with eight strikeouts and three walks.
Carrie McSweyn suffered the setback in the pitching circle for Wesson with no strikeouts and one walk. Amber Brinson (0K, 1BB) also saw some action in relief.
Micah Redd also paced the Lady Bears’ offensive attack at the plate with a triple and two singles. Addie Springs provided a double and a single with two RBIs. Millane Lewis contributed three singles (RBI-5) and Brianna Fauver had two singles. Makennah Redd ripped a double. Layton Sills, Malori Hall and Anna Brook Davis hit safely. Top fielder for the Lady Bears was Malori Hall with 4 outs on first base.
Amber Brinson was the top hitter for the Lady Cobras at the plate with a triple and a single to score the only run for Wesson. Harmoni Ashley and Cheyenne Gladden had a single apiece. Top Wesson fielder was Harmoni Ashley with 5 outs on first base.
In JV action, Wesson defeated West Lincoln 4-3.
Megan Gerald suffered the setback on the mound for West Lincoln with six strikeouts and one walk.
Ashley Thomas led the Lady Bears at the plate with two singles. Sara Jane Doty had a double. Hitting safely were McKenzie Pyles, Jana Case, Georganna Allen and Skylar Hall.
