Lady Bears survive defensive bout against Enterprise

The West Lincoln Lady Bears squeezed out a 2-1 victory over the Enterprise Lady Jackets in Region 7-2A softball action Tuesday at West Lincoln.

“This was a good game,” said West Lincoln coach Andrew Redd. “Both teams played really well defensively. Micah Redd and Haley Nations pitched a outstanding game. Overall, we just did not hit the ball. We have go to do a better job moving and scoring run when we have runners on base.”

The Lady Bears (9-7, 6-2) are schedule to be in action Friday as they visit Wesson to take on the Wesson Lady Cobras at Co-Lin softball field. Junior varsity action will start at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.

The Lady Jackets (5-9, 4-3) will be in action today as they invade Loyd Star to battle the Lady Hornets in a big Region 7-2A test. Junior varsity action begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

West Lincoln 2, Enterprise 1 

West Lincoln and Enterprise softball fans witnessed a tough defensive battle as both teams fought in a close contest. Enterprise and West Lincoln started off the first inning scoring one run each.

The Lady Bears managed to capture the lead in the bottom of the second inning by pushing one run across the plate to grab a 2-1 lead.

Throughout the rest of the contest, both teams fought hard to get something going offensively, but neither teams’ defense would not allowed the opposing team to score.

Micah Redd tossed the victory in the circle for the Lady Bears with six strikeouts and two walks.

Haley Nations suffered the setback for the Lady Jackets with six strikeouts and three walks.

Malori Hall was the top hitter for West Lincoln at the plate with a triple and a single. Breanna Fauver contributed two singles.

Jana Nations, Kinsey Dahlin and Caley Cangemi paced Enterprise’s offense with a single each.

“My girls came ready to play tonight,” said Enterprise coach Clarissa Burke. “We competed really well against a good team. Overall, I was very pleased with my girls effort. We are getting better in each and every game.”

In junior varsity action, West Lincoln edges Enterprise 2-0.

Megan Gerald pitched the win for the Lady Bears with five strikeouts and three walks.

Kristen Walker absorbed the setback for the Lady Jackets with two strikeouts and no walks.

Madelynn Thornton lead West Lincoln’s attack with a triple. Hitting safely were Jana Case, Maddox Redd, Georganna Allen and Morgan Newman.
