McCaffery lift Enterprise netters past West Lincoln

DAILY LEADER / MARTY ALBRIGHT / Enterprise’s Mylaine McCaffery rallies back to help her team beat West Lincoln Thursday in tennis action at the Brookhaven Country Club tennis courts.

Enterprise’s Mylaine McCaffery helped lift the Enterprise netters to a 4-3 win over West Lincoln Thursday afternoon in tennis at the Brookhaven Country Club.

McCaffery rallied back to beat West Lincoln’s Carlie Smith 3-6, 6-2 to force a tiebreaker set and won 10-7. With the win, Enterprise and West Lincoln both finished tied for second place in the standings.

After calling MHSAA the next day, West Lincoln ended up winning the tiebreaker to move on to the playoffs in the team event.

Tiebreaker decision was based on how well West Lincoln and Enterprise did against Loyd Star. The Bears lost 5-2, 5-2 and the Jackets lost 5-2, 6-1.

Several individual tennis players from Enterprise, West Lincoln and Loyd Star have advanced to the individual State tournament after a day of tennis Saturday in Region 7-2A action at the Brookhaven Country Club tennis courts.

Boys No. 1 Doubles:  Wyatt Coleman-Noah McKone (E) d. Jayden Rushing-Andrew Kimble (WL) 6-2, 6-0. Boys No. 2 Doubles:  Riley Falvey-Tyler Gill (E) d. Kodie Carroll-Chase Watts (WL) 6-3, 6-2. Girls No. 1 Doubles: Katy Clark-Kara Clark (WL) d. Erica Bernard-Maddie Carter (E) 6-0, 6-1. Girls No. 2 Doubles:  Madison Franklin-Laura Dunaway (WL) d. Courtney Greer-Madison Rials (E) 6-4, 6-3. Mixed Doubles: Cody Leggett-Carlin Nations (E) d. Liam Rutland-Hollie Smith (WL) 6-0, 6-1.
