The Brookhaven Lady Panthers celebrated senior night last Friday night with an impressive 1-0 win over the Warren Central Lady Rams at the Ole Brook softball complex.

The Lady Panthers recognized two seniors: Julianna Porter and Katie Grace Culpepper, on their team prior to the opening pitch of the varsity game as friend and family members gathered to watch. Porter and Culpepper received a shower of gifts from their teammates and families.

“I’m proud of the way the girls hit the ball. Kat shell pitched a great game,” said BHS coach Mandy Vinson.

The Lady Panthers will be in action today as they visit Loyd Star to take on the Lady Hornets. Junior action begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m.

Brookhaven 1, Warren Central 0 

The Lady Panthers scored their only run in the bottom of the first inning as Katie Grace Culpepper plated the run.

Brookhaven relied on their strong defense and the strong arm of Katherine Shell to keep the Lady Rams off the scoreboard.

Shell dominated the rubber for Brookhaven with five strikeouts and no walks.

Katie grace Culpepper, Tia Bussey, Kat Shell, Fallon Brooks and Haley Speaks powered the Ole Brook’s offense with a single each.

Brooke Patterson led the Lady Rams at the plate with two singles. Katie Channel provided a triple. Kasey Cortzie and Morgan Stewart hit safely.

In junior varsity action,  The Lady Rams defeated the Lady Panthers 6-2.

Rileigh Allen had two strikeouts and two walks in two innings of work. Madison Thompson also pitched two innings with no strikeouts and no walks.

Rileigh Allen and Kyla Henderson were the top hitter for Ole Brook with a single each.
