BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats eliminated the Pelahatchie Lady Chiefs from the first round of the Class 1A softball playoffs with a 14-4 victory in game two of the best-of-three series Friday night.

In last Thursday’s contest, the Lady Cats dominated the Lady Chiefs to win game one 16-0.

“It was good to get the win to clinch the series,” BC coach Scott Leggett said. “The girls played well both offensively and defensively.”

Bogue Chitto (13-9) will advance to the second round of the playoffs and host the Nanih Waiya Lady Warriors Monday for another best of three series. Game time has not been set. Games two and three, if needed, will be at Nanih Waiya Tuesday.

Bogue Chitto 16, Pelahatchie 0 

In game one, the Lady Cats came out and dominated the Lady Chiefs in a four-inning contest. Bogue Chitto scored one run in the second inning, nine runs in the third inning and six more runs in the fourth inning to secure the win.

Christian Black provided a dominating performance in the circle for BC, while giving up only one hit in a 12 strikeouts and three walks performance.

Codi Leggett, Mallory Allen, Karly Leake, Alana Nettles and Zariah Matthews sparked the offensive onslaught for BC at the plate with two singles each. Daley Roberts contributed a triple. Payton Barron, Colby Kirkland, Baileigh Jackson and Christian Black hit safely.

Bogue Chitto 14, Pelahatchie 4 

In game two in Bogue Chitto, the Lady Cats quickly took care of business Friday night against Pelahatchie as BC commanded a 6-1 lead after three innings of action.

The Lady Chiefs rallied back in the top of the fifth inning by plating three runs to cut into BC’s lead at 6-4, but the Lady Cats answered in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring three runs to push their lead back out to 9-4.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Bogue Chitto put the Lady Chiefs away with a five-run explosion to win the contest.

Alana Nettles was the winning hurdler for the Lady Cats with four strikeouts and one walk.

Becca Kenny suffered the loss for Pelahatchie with no strikeouts and four walks.

Christian Black powered the Bogue Chitto attack at the plate with a double and three singles. Daley Roberts provided a double and two singles. Codi Leggett contributed three singles. Nettles had a triple and a single. Mathews added a double and a single. Colby Kirkland ripped a double. Terrah Nelson and Mallory Allen hit safely.

Jayla Jennings, Abby Bousley, Kaci White, Shelby Sledge, Courtney Lum and Kacey King paced the Lady Chiefs’ offense with a single each.
