Trent Nettles is taking his skills to the next level. Brookhaven Academy’s all-around athlete has signed a cheerleader scholarship with the Copiah-Lincoln Community Junior College Wolves.

Nettles signed his official papers Thursday morning in the Brookhaven Academy Library. He is the son of Denise and Michael Nettles.

Nettles is a very well known athlete at Brookhaven Academy that loves to compete. He has been a major part of the Cougars’ football, basketball and baseball program for several years.

In Nettles’ spare time between school activities, he will head over to the Brookhaven Gym of Dream to compete in cheer.

“People don’t realize the amount of athleticism that it takes to compete in this sport,” said Gym of Dreams coach Duane Meilstrup. “Trent is a very quick learner, and he was a major part of our competitive squad for many years. He was also a member of our worlds’ team in 2014.”

Trent Nettles mentioned that he wants to pursue a career in nursing.

“I am super excited to joining Co-Lin’s cheer team,” said Nettles. “I just love to compete it doesn’t matter what sport it is.”
