Chantel Quarles is taking her talents to the next level. Brookhaven’s girls’ doubles tennis star has signed a tennis scholarship with the Co-Lin Community College Lady Wolves.
Quarles signed her official scholarship papers Thursday afternoon in the Brookhaven High’s library. She is the daughter of Regina and Herman Quarles.
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to play tennis at the next level,” said Quarles. “Co-Lin has a very good tennis program. I also wanted to stay close to home so that my parents can come watch me play.”
Quarles mentioned she wants to pursue a career in being a register nurse, before advancing to the University of Southern Mississippi.
Quarles and her teammate, Sarah Warren Rice, in girls’ doubles (7-3) will be competing in the MSHAA Individual State tournament Monday through Wednesday for a chance to bring home some state championship gold.
“I am so proud of Chantel for accepting a tennis scholarship to Co-Lin,” said Brookhaven tennis coach Nancy Fisher. “She is a strong, All-court player who will be an asset to their tennis program. She has been a joy to coach and will be greatly missed. I wish her all the best year at Co-Lin”
