Now in its fifteenth year, the program awards scholarships each year to a deserving young man and woman based on their accomplishments in the classroom, on the tennis court and in the community.

Ratcliff, the daughter of Janet and Brad Ratcliff, is a member of the graduating class at Brookhaven Academy. Her extracurricular activities at BA include being a manager for the football team and being a member of the Science club, the Service club, and the Positive Choices Club. She was selected as a Senior Class favorite in the school’s Who’s Who.

Ratcliff has served as a camp counselor at the Brookhaven Little Theatre Summer Drama Camp and with the Brookhaven Recreation Department Youth Tennis Program. She is active with the Lincoln County Teenage Republicans, participated in the Toys for Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital drive, and helped with a fundraiser for the Brookhaven Animal Rescue League.

Ratcliff has played Junior Team Tennis for the last three years and has played in numerous junior tournaments. She played several positions on the Brookhaven Academy tennis team, but in the 2015 spring season, she played mixed doubles, finishing third in the MSAIS state tournament.

She also played on an 18-and-over Adult League team for the first time this spring. Susanna plans to begin her college career at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, majoring in elementary education. She says that she hopes she “can continue to educate children on the tennis courts as well as in the classroom as a teacher.”
