Lady Cougars soccer kick off season Friday

The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars soccer team will begin their season Friday when they visit Parklane Academy to take on the Lady Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. in McComb.
The Lady Cougars will be led by their only senior, Peyton Rogers. Joining her will be junior starters Julianna Mills, Harley Smith, McKinley Evans, Sophie Wilson, Anna Narang and returning sophomore starters Madalyn Oglesby and Kaitlyn Bass.
In addition to the returning starters, the Lady Cougars have added 10 new players to this year’s team.
The Lady Cougars began practice in May and have put in many hot hours of work to prepare for the 2015 soccer season. They expect to be much improved this year and are looking forward to a 17-game schedule that includes 12 district home and away games.
Their district opponents this year will be Park Place Academy, Hartfield Academy, Central Hinds Academy, Adams County Christian, Manchester Academy and Laurel Christian.
Mark LeBlanc and Jason Anding will be coaching the 2015 Lady Cougars. Both LeBlanc and Anding have daughters who play for the Lady Cougars .
The two coaches have played competitive youth soccer, LeBlanc in Baton Rouge, La. and Anding in Brookhaven.
They have been active coaches in the Brookhaven youth soccer and are looking forward to the challenge of building a successful girls soccer program at Brookhaven Academy.
The first home game for the Lady Cougars will be at the Brookhaven Soccer Complex at Hansel King Field on Aug. 3, starting at 4 p.m. against soccer powerhouse Laurel Christian.
