LCHS Lady Cougars crush Franklin Co.

MONTICELLO – Lawrence County hammered Franklin County 13-1 in slow-pitch softball action Tuesday night at LCHS. Meleah Howard’s girls broke open a tight game by scoring five runs in the bottom of the third, four runs in the fourth, and three runs in the fifth.
Lawrence County grabbed a 1-0 in the first, when Zyon Feazell’s vicious blast to left-center was erred. In the third, Feazell, Josey Nations, Barri Rogers, Sydney Pevey, and Alyssa Lambert had singles. Amanda Rushing boomed a double, and Jordan Harp plated a run with a sacrifice fly.
In the bottom of the fourth, Pevey, Rogers, Harp and Nations had singles, and Feazell had a sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the fifth, Nations had her third hit of the game, and Rogers’ booming three-run double ended the game.
Rogers pitched her usual solid game, allowing no walks and striking out two batters.
Franklin County’s lone run came in the top of the fourth, when Shelly Case, T Mackey, Sydney Scott, Emilee Wallace, and Malaine Moak put together singles. Case and Wallace each had two hits for the Lady Bulldogs. Brandi O’Neal added one hit.
Lawrence County also won in junior varsity play, 11-4. Abbie Errington led the way with two hits. Raylee Ready, Julianna Johnson, Ashley Holden, Lily Stephens, and Maddie Claire Sauls each had one hit. Johnson and Holden shared pitching duties.
The Lady Cougars improved to 7-1 on the season. They will next be in action on Thursday
