Enterprise destroys Mount Olive

MT. OLIVE – The Enterprise Yellow Jackets extended their winning streak to three games after clobbering the Mount Olive Pirates 48-6 Friday night.
In the first quarter of action, the Jackets came out and dominated the Pirates on offense and defense to secure an early 12-0 lead.
Marvin Butler put the Jackets on the scoreboard with a five-yard run at the 5:16 mark of the first quarter.
With a 1:13 remaining, the Jackets’ defense cashed in a touchdown after Tanner Waldrop intercepted a pass and returned it 65 yards to paydirt to give Enterprise a 12-0 lead.
In the second quarter, the Jackets and Pirates battled back and forth in a defensive battle until the 2:33 mark, when Waldrop punched in his second touchdown of the night on a 43-yard scamper to add to Enterprise’s lead at 18-0
The Pirates finally managed to break up Enterprise’s bid for a shut out late in the second quarter as they scored their only touchdown with 1:13 left in the first half. Enterprise commanded a 18-6 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Enterprise continued to dominate both offensively and defensively as they outscored the Pirates 30-0.
In the third quarter, the Jackets scored two touchdowns on runs of 70 and 15 yards by Waldrop and Zach Hodges. Drake Allen and Dewayne Pendleton both punched in the two-point conversion to give Enterprise a 34-6 lead at the end of the third frame.
In the fourth quarter, Enterprise continued to add to their lead as Hodges ran in a one-yard rushing touchdown with 10:14 remaining and Jontavious Smith rushed in the two-point conversion.
Enterprise’s last touchdown came with 1:04 remaining as Austin Boyte plowed in from one yard out to finish the Jackets scoring spree.
Offensively, Marvin Butler powered the Jackets’ ground attack with 12 carries for 136 yards. Tanner Waldrop was the second leading rusher with five carries for 119 yards and two touchdowns and had 65-yard interception return for a touchdown. Dewayne Pendleton helped the rushing attack with five carries for 78 yards.
Defensively, Devin Kirtfield led the team with eight tackles. Austin Boyte, Drake Allen and Brant White provided four tackles each.
The Jackets (3-0) will return home Friday to host the Clarkdale Bulldogs (3-0) for a big non-divisional test at Harry Cole Field. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
