The Brookhaven Panthers and Lady Panthers hosted and won the overall team rankings in cross-country action Thursday at the Hansel King Sportsplex.

Seven local schools participate in the invitational: Brookhaven, Loyd Star, West Lincoln, Enterprise, Lawrence County, North Pike and Wilkinson County.

The Lady Panthers posted a 26 in the standings and the Ole Brook boys A-Team finished with an overall score of 31.

In the girls’ individual varsity 5K run, Abby Thomas of Loyd Star captured first place. Gracie Gray of Brookhaven secured second place and Julie Smith of Loyd Star finished in third place.

In the boys’ individual varsity 5K run, Austin Carter of Enterprise finished in first place. Jason Watts of West Lincoln took second place and Adrian Lockwood of Brookhaven was third.

In the junior varsity 2K run, the Brookhaven Lady Panthers and the Loyd Star Hornets placed first in the event.

In girls’ individuals, Malori Cade of Loyd Star took home first place. Mary Rhea Waterloo of Brookhaven finished in second place and Ashley Tabor of West Lincoln was third.

In boys’ individuals, Loyd Star swept the race as Leondre Dodds placed first, Roberto Galindo took second and Stephen Mills captured third place.
