Brookhaven finishes strong in Clinton race

CLINTON – The Brookhaven High School cross-country team participated in the Clinton Arrow Cross Country Invitational Saturday in Clinton.
The varsity boys’ team placed 12th overall out of 23 teams. Adrian Lockwood came in first for the team placing 54th in the 5K race out of 297 runners with a time of 19:22. He was followed by Caleb McCreary with a time of 19:57 and Antonio Dillion who had a time of 20:39. Times for the remaining BHS varsity runners are: Jonas Raguse 22:21, Tajah Black 22:57, Andrew Knott 23:32, Noah Spear 24:13, Tyler Montgomery 24:13, Tre Laird 26:33, Mason Gardner 26:51, and Jake Roberson 27:23.
Brookhaven varsity girls placed 10th overall out of 22 teams in the 5K race. The first runner coming in for the team was Miyah Miller, who placed 40th out of 237 runners with at time of 24:08 followed by Gracie Gray with a time of 24:35 and Jordan Fries with a time of 25:36. Times for the remaining BHS varsity girls are: Abigail Roberts 26:42, Carley Craig 27:26, Cristina Craig 27:53, Audrey Williamson 32:57, Jackie Madison 34:27 and Leona Smith 34:33.
Brookhaven’s JV boys had four runners competing in the two-mile race. Jacob Britt finished 18th with a time of 13:19, John Michael Chance had a time of 16:46, Samuel Mabile came in with a time of 17:21, followed by James Gardner with a time of 17:24.
The girls JV team placed fifth out of eight teams. Baily Pounds came in first for the team finishing 33rd out of 71 runners with a time of 16:58 in the two-mile race. Mary Rhea Waterloo was next with a time of 17:03, followed by Hannah Junkin with a time of 17:06 and Zoey Hinton with a time of 18:20. Riley Whittington finished next with a time of 18:35.
