LIBERTY – The Loyd Star Hornets suffered a 64-6 loss to the Amite County Trojans Friday night in Region 7-2A action in Liberty.

Junior runningback Parker Flowers scored the only points for the Hornets on a 78-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Flowers powered the Hornets’ rushing attack with 37 yards on 11 carries. Anfernee Claire contributed seven rushes for 20 yards.

Michael Harvey completed two of four passes for 29 yards. Konner Allen was the top receiver for the Hornets with one catch for 25 yards.

Defensively, Flowers had a dominating performance for the Hornets, leading the team with 14 tackles. Harvey provided eight tackles. Laken Wallace had four stops.

Loyd Star (2-5, 0-1) travels to Prentiss Friday to take on the Bulldogs in another big Region 7-2A contest. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
