Heine earns medalist honors, Wolfpack finish third

WESSON – Co-Lin’s Philip Heine fired a two-day total of 138 (70-68) to capture medalist honors in the MACJC Event No. 3 held at Wolf Hollow Golf Club. Heine, a freshman from Madison, began the day in second place, three shots behind first round leader Lance Strickland of Meridian Community College.

Strickland finished in second at 140 (67-73) followed by teammate Grant Renegar at 143 (72-71), Phillip Hickam of Mississippi Gulf Coast at 145 (76-69), and Camden BAckel of Meridian at 145 (73-72). They joined Heine on the All-Tournament Team.

Meridian won the team title with a two-day total of 574 followed by Mississippi Gulf Coast 584, Co-Lin 594, East Central 614, Hinds 637, Itawamba 653, East Mississippi 654, and Northwest Mississippi 667.

Heine was followed by teammates Cole Arseneault at 146 (76-70), Drake Nelson at 151 (73-78), Jason Byrd at 152 (80-72), Joseph Dendy at 158 (81-77), and Brandon Blakeney at 164 (83-81). Nelson played as an individual.

The Wolfpack will be back in action on Oct. 26-27 in the MACJC Event No. 4 hosted by Mississippi Gulf Coast at Grand Bear Golf Club in Saucier. This will be the final tournament of the fall.
