Bogue Chitto (1-6, 1-2),  coached by Gareth Sartin, returns to the gridiron after snapping a 15-game losing streak two weeks ago with a 42-20 homecoming victory over the Mount Olive Pirates.

This week, the Bobcats are looking to stay in the hunt for the playoffs as they welcome the Lumberton Panthers to Troy Smith Field.

Senior running back Daylon Burks had a career night for the Panthers as he led the team with 248 yards rushing on 20 carries. Senior quarterback Jonathan Walley completed 3-of-5 passes for 59 yards. Drik Coleman was the top receiver with one catch for 26 yards and Jakurren Grant caught a pass for 25 yards.

Jaden Galloway, Erron Joseph and Dakota Walters powered the Panthers’ defense with four tackles each.

BC’s top offensive performer against Mount Olive – two weeks ago – was Kobe Roberts with 10 carries for 110 yards rushing. Conner Douglas contributed 12 rushes for 71 yards.

Douglas also completed 3-of-9 passes for 86 yards and two interceptions.

Dee Dillon was the top receiver with one catch for 45 yards. Roberts caught two passes for 41 yards.

Defensively, Kody Halford and Roberts directed the Bobcats with eight tackles each. Roberts also recovered a fumble. Terrance Morgan, Eli Wallace and Sherman Jackson provided seven tackles each. Wallace also had two fumble recoveries.

Last year, Lumberton cruised past the Bobcats 46-7 in Bogue Chitto.

My prediction: Lumberton defeats Bogue Chitto 35-14.
