BSW wins two over Saints

NATCHEZ – The Brookhaven Southern Wildcats feasted on the Natchez Saints 40-0 in 8-under TNT Football action Saturday. The Wildcats blanked the Saints 14-0 in 10-under action. In 12-under action, Natchez crushed Brookhaven 22-0.

BSW will be off this weekend but will resume action Saturday, Oct. 24, on the road against the Woodville Ravens, starting at 2:30 p.m.

Markel Smith and Daylen Barden powered the Wildcats’ explosive attack against the Saints, both offensively and defensively. Smith ran in a 60-yard touchdown on offense and returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown. Daylen Barden cashed in a 10-yard touchdown run and a also returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown.

Zachary Moore punched in a 20-yard touchdown run. Timothy Smith, Jasmine Robertson, Jevarius Dickey, Zachary Moore and Markel Smith each scored on the two-point conversion.

Defensively, Markel Smith led the way for the Wildcats with two interceptions and three tackles. Barden had two tackles and one interception. Fabian Washington contributed three tackles and Seth Butler recovered a fumble.

BSW 14, Saints 0 

Kenneth Dixon punched in two rushing touchdowns of 55 and 50 yards to lead the Wildcats to finish with 150 yards rushing. Elijah Calcote ran in a two-point conversion.

Defensively, Kermit Sartin powered the Wildcats with nine tackles. Malachi Clark contributed seven stops. Jimmy Johns Jr. and Edward Quarles provided five tackles each. Nathan Lewis had four stops. Calcote had three tackles.

Saints 22, BSW 0 

Caleb Harris directed the Wildcats’ offense with 30 yards rushing. Drantae Owens and K.J. Beasley rushed for 20 yards each.

Defensively, Jearante Scarbrough led all tacklers with five tackles. Amerion Dunnigan had four stops. Kobe Jacobs, Harris and Owens provided three tackles each.
