BHS girls win West Lincoln Invitational

The Brookhaven Cross Country girls’ team took home first place in West Lincoln Cross Country invitational Saturday and the boys finished second behind Natchez.

The Lady Panthers were led by Miyah Miller. She finished second with a time of 22:07. Gracie Gray came in third with a time of 22:54. Hannah Junkin was ninth at 25:23. Other runners were Jordan Fries at 11th (25:34), Bailey Pounds 13th (25:46), Carley Craig 14th (25:59), Mary Rhea Waterloo 15th (26:12), Abby Roberts 16th (26:46), Cristina Craig 17th (27:05) and Jackie Madison 23rd (29:22).

The Panthers were led by Adrian Lockwood with a third place finish with a time of 18:31. Antonio Dillon was fourth at 19:31. Jacob Britt came in at 13th (20:33), Noah Spear was 15th (21:25) and Andrew Knott 16th (21:26)

In girls junior varsity action, Destiny Jefferson led the pace with a sixth place finish with a time of 22:19. Zoey Hinton came in 10th (24:38), Audrey Williamson 11th (25:14), Leona Smith 14th (26:26) and Riley Whittington 17th (28:07).

The junior varsity Panthers were led by Jesse Gilmore with a seventh placed finish with a time of 18:47. Mason Gardner was 12th (20:23), John Michael Chance 14th (20:31), James Gardner 17th (21:00), Jake Roberson 18th (21:18) and Samuel Mabile 25th (23:06).

Brookhaven will compete in Region 3-5A meet Saturday at Choctaw Trails in Clinton.
