Teams, players finish strong in invitational

The West Lincoln Bears and Lady Bears hosted an Invitational Cross-Country run Saturday with teams from Loyd Star, Enterprise, Brookhaven, McComb, Natchez and Wilkinson County competing in the event.
The Brookhaven Cross Country girls’ team took home first place overall, the Natchez Lady Bulldogs finished second overall, and the West Lincoln Lady Bears placed third.
In the boys’ 5K run, Natchez won first place, Brookhaven captured second and Enterprise finished third.
Loyd Star’s Abby Thomas was the top runner in the girls 5K run with a time of 21:02. Julie Smith finished in eighth place overall with a time of 24:51. Other Lady Hornets runners were Lesley Walker at 27:52 and Lydia Britt at 29:10.
The Lady Panthers were led by Miyah Miller. She finished second with a time of 22:07. Gracie Gray came in third with a time of 22:54. Hannah Junkin was ninth at 25:23. Other runners were Jordan Fries at 11th (25:34), Bailey Pounds 13th (25:46), Carley Craig 14th (25:59), Mary Rhea Waterloo 15th (26:12), Abby Roberts 16th (26:46), Cristina Craig 17th (27:05) and Jackie Madison 23rd (29:22).
The Lady Bears were directed by Georganna Allen as she finished in 10th place overall with a time of 25:52. Jana Case finished behind Allen with a time of 25:40. Other Lady Bears were Skylar Hall at 27:55, Maddox Redd at 32:03 and Leann Chisholm at 35:13.
For the Lady Jackets, Gracie Knight was the leader with a time of 27:35.
In the boys event, West Lincoln’s Jason Watts was the top runner with a first place finish overall with a time of 17:18. Jordan Montgomery followed behind Watts with a time of 20:24, Jonathan Mathis at 21:27, Trevor Murray at 23:30 and Caleb Weeks at 24:56.
Austin Carter placed second overall for the Enterprise Jackets with a time of 17:48. Hunter Bland was the second leading runner for the Jackets with a time of 20:09, Cody Leggett at 21:14, Dustin Prather at 23:23 and Kaeleb Carithers at 23:28.
The Panthers were led by Adrian Lockwood with a third place overall finish with a time of 18:31. Antonio Dillon was fourth at 19:31. Jacob Britt came in at 13th (20:33), Noah Spear was 15th (21:25) and Andrew Knott 16th (21:26)
For Loyd Star, Jered Cade paced the Hornets with a time of 24:45. Jacob Case at 22:49, Corey Baker at 23:07 and Mason Falvey at 26:52.
In the girls junior varsity cross-country run, West Lincoln took first place overall, Enterprise captured second and Brookhaven finished third.
The Lady Bears was directed by Tess Holley as she placed seventh overall with a time of 22:37. Ashley Tabor came in eighth with a time of 22:54 and Gracee Warren was ninth overall with a time of 24:25. Other Lady Bears runners were Sara Wilson at 25:26 and Anna Johnson at 29:45.
The Lady Jackets were led by Marlee Gunnell with a second place finish overall with a time of 21:47. Other Enterprise runners were Breanna Boyles at 21:49, Michele Herrington at 26:44, Kristina Diamond at 26:57 and Mylaine McCaffery at 30:36.
Destiny Jefferson led the pace for the Lady Panthers with a sixth-place finish with a time of 22:19. Zoey Hinton came in 10th (24:38), Audrey Williamson 11th (25:14), Leona Smith 14th (26:26) and Riley Whittington 17th (28:07).
Loyd Star’s Malori Cade was the top runner in the girls event with a first-place finish overall with a time of 19:46. Adrianna McDavid was the second leading runner for the Lady Hornets with a time of 25:40.
In the boys junior varsity run, Natchez was the winner overall, Loyd Star captured second place overall and West Lincoln clinched third.
Leondre Dodds powered the Hornets with a second place finish overall with a time of 17:25. Roberto Galindo came in third overall with a time of 17:33. Stephen Mills placed sixth with a time of 18:23. Other Loyd Star runners were Austin Case at 20:27 and Will McCullough at 30:50.
For West Lincoln, Tyler Castillo led the charge for the Bears finishing fourth overall with a time of 17:41. Noah Addison finished 10th with a time of 19:27. Other Bears finishers were Spencer Maxwell at 19:58, Ashtin Castillo at 20:47 and Dakota Spring at 20:57.
The junior varsity Panthers were led by Jesse Gilmore with a seventh placed finish with a time of 18:47. Mason Gardner was 12th (20:23), John Michael Chance 14th (20:31), James Gardner 17th (21:00), Jake Roberson 18th (21:18) and Samuel Mabile 25th (23:06).
Adam Brumfield was the top runner for Enterprise with time of 21:19. Devin McCullough finished behind Brumfield with a time of 23:04. Other Jackets finishers were Pike Herrington at 23:05, Duncan Falvey at 23:06 and Grayson Bennett at 27:07.
