BHS earns split in tourney action

The Brookhaven Panthers and Lady Panthers soccer teams captured a split in Saturday’s Loyd Star soccer tournament at the Hansel King Sportsplex.

BHS Lady Panthers (2-1-1) battled Franklin County and Wesson in Saturday’s tournament. The girls fell to the Lady Bulldogs 3-1. Carlie Reeves scored the only goal for the Lady Panthers. In the contest against Wesson, BHS won 1-0. Fallon Brook scored on a direct kick as Haley Speaks earned the shutout at goalie.

In boys’ action, the Panthers (1-3) beat Raymond 2-1 and lost to ACCS 3-2. Logan Emfinger scored three goals Saturday and Noah Spear scored one.

The Lady Panthers finish tied with Franklin Co. Tuesday night at 0-0 and beat Loyd Star 1-0 Thursday. Katherine Shell collected the shutouts as goalie. Kat Wallace scored the winning goal with Fallon Brooks providing the assist.

The Panthers lost to FCHS 5-0 Tuesday and lost to Loyd Star 3-2 Thursday.
