Jones named South Defensive MVP as South wins MACJC All-Star Game

BILOXI – Co-Lin’s Scooter Jones won Defensive MVP honors for the South as the South defeated the North 21-10 in the MACJC All-Star Game, Saturday.
Jones led the South with nine tackles and a broken-up pass.
Hinds’ Decory Magee had a pair of interceptions to earn overall MVP honors.
The South rallied from a 10-0 deficit behind touchdown receptions by Gulf Coast’s Jevon Floyd and Ishmel Morrow in a 36-second span sandwiched around halftime.
The South seized the lead on the first play of the second half when Bourrage hooked up with a 70-yard bomb to Morrow. Pearl River’s Matt Williams later found Co-Lin tight end Matias Robinson for a 14-yard pass for the final margin.
Co-Lin running back Kendrick Catchings led the South’s running attack with 18 carries for 89 yards. Robinson finished the game with two catches for 22 yards.
Floyd was named Keith Daniels Offensive MVP Award for the South, catching four passes for 42 yards. Northeast’s Tiberias Lampkin earned the Hubert Tucker Offensive MVP for the North after rushing 15 times for 92 yards and the touchdown.
Itawamba’s Terrance Jones won Defensive MVP for the North, getting seven tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks.
Magee won the award named for James H. “Wooky” Gray.
The North got a 26-yard field goal by Jacob Meeks before Lampkin’s long touchdown scamper to build its lead.
Floyd caught a 35-yard pass from Jones’ Kelvin Bourrage to set up their seven-yard hookup for the South’s first score, 26 seconds before halftime. Bourrage finished 7-of-11 for 120 yards and two touchdowns.
