West Lincoln’s shortstop Layton Sills has signed a softball scholarship with the East Mississippi Community College Lady Lions.

Sills signed her official scholarship papers Tuesday in the West Lincoln Library. Joining Layton were her parents Lindy and Ben Sills, West Lincoln softball coach Andrew Redd, West Lincoln assistant coach Greg Allen and members of the Lady Bears softball team.

In her junior year for the Lady Bears, Layton batted .333 and had a .944 fielding percentage..

“Layton has been a very important part of our team for the last several years,” said Redd. “She is a hard worker and is always willing to do what it takes to win.

“Layton is a strong hitter and able to make things happen with her bat,” said Redd. “She also has a strong arm to make hard throws when needed. I am proud of her accomplishments and we wish her luck at the next level.”
