Resurrection beats West Lincoln in tennis

The West Lincoln Bear netters lost to the Resurrection Eagles 5-2 Monday in the second round of Class 1A/2A State tennis playoffs at the Brookhaven Country Club.
The Bears were victorious in girls’ No. 1 doubles and girls’ singles action. West Lincoln’s Katy Clark won in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 over Resurrection’s Ally Mossey in girls single. The Lady Bears’ Kara Clark and Carlie Smith won 6-3, 6-3 over the Lady Eagles’ Olivia Brasher and Bettina Boland
The Bear netters still have several members competing for individual gold in the State Individual tournament on May 9 through May 11 at Oxford Tennis Center.
Participating in the tournament for West Lincoln will be Sebastian Harrell in boys’ singles, Carlie Smith in girls’ singles, Liam Rutland and Abby Grace Stogner in mixed doubles, Matthew Allred and Johnathan Mathis in boys’ doubles, Katy Clark, Kara Clark, Laura Leigh Dunaway and Madison Franklin in girls’ doubles.

Mixed doubles: Noah Criddle/Lillie Boland (R) d. Matthew Allred/Abby Grace Stogner (WL) 7-5, 6-1.
