Ole Brook place second, fifth in South State

LONGBEACH – The Brookhaven Panthers and Lady Panthers finished strong in track and field action Saturday at the South State meet.

The Ole Brook Panthers finished in second place overall, while the Lady Panthers finished fifth overall.

The top four finishers in each event advance to the state championship in Pearl Saturday.

The field events begin at 10 a.m., followed by the track events.

In the boys’ events,  Adrian Lockwood carried the Brookhaven Panthers in the track events with a first-place finish in 1600-meter run and 3200-meter run.

Montero Barton placed third in the Triple Jump. Jemaurian Jones came in third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 2:10.00. Kariunte Edwards finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.88.

In the boys’ relay events, Brookhaven captured two second-place finishes in the 4×100 meters and 4×200 meter relays. Brookhaven placed fourth in the 4×800 meter.

In the Lady Panthers’ events,  Miyah Miller helped her team with a first-place finish in the 1600-meter run. Mya Washington came in first in discus.

The Lady Panthers took home first place in the 4×200 meter race, second in the 4×100 meter and 4×800 meter relay and fourth in the 4×400 meter relay.Class 5A.
