Four Wolves selected for MACJC Soccer All-Star Game

WESSON – Four Copiah-Lincoln sophomore soccer players will get to represent their school one final time on Saturday, Nov. 15 in the 2nd Annual MACJC Men’s and Women’s All-Star Games. The matches will take place at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland with the women beginning at 2 p.m. and the men following at 4:30 p.m.

Selected to suit up for the South men from Co-Lin are Blayne Jones, Briyan Paiz, and Camilo Posada. Lady Wolf Hannah Linnell will suit up for the South women and Co-Lin head coach David Strother will serve as the head coach for the South men.

Jones, a Madison St. Joe graduate, was the leading scorer for Co-Lin with five goals in 2014. A forward, Jones also added two assists. He played football and soccer as a freshman and served as the placekicker for the Wolfpack football team in 2013.

Paiz, a graduate of Crystal Springs High, has been an anchor on the Co-Lin backline since he arrived in Wesson. A defender, he notched one assist in 2014. Posada was third on the team in 2014 with three goals. The former Biloxi High Indian also added two assists as a sophomore at the forward and midfield positions.

Linnell, a graduate of McLaurin High School and a native of Star, scored one goal as a sophomore. Linnell started nearly every game in her Co-Lin career at either the midfield or forward position.

Strother, a former Co-Lin player himself, just finished his third season coaching the Co-Lin women and men. He will be assisted in the men’s game by Chris Handy of Gulf Coast.

“This is such a great event, I’m jealous of our kids getting to play in it. There was nothing like this when I played at Co-Lin and we really appreciate Holmes hosting the event,” said Strother.
