Wolfpack capture second in MGCCC tournament

WIGGINS – The Copiah-Lincoln Wolfpack finished in second place after the final round of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Invitational held at Pine Burr Country Club in Wiggins. The Wolfpack shot a final round of 309 for a two-day total of 606. Mississippi Gulf Coast won the tournament with a 587.

Meridian finished in third place (610), followed by Mississippi Gulf Coast (B) (621), East Mississippi (624), Hinds (627), Northeast Mississippi (629), East Central (631), Northwest Mississippi (634), Itawamba (664), and Jones County (704).

For the Wolfpack, red-shirt freshman Jacob Ross of Brookhaven tied for second place with a two-day total of 143 (68-75) Sophomore Ryan Desormeaux of Broussard, Louisiana, finished in fourth place with a 147 (73-74). Will Lee of Brookhaven finished in a three-way tie for 26th at 157 (76-81), Gregory Causey finished tied for 31st at 159 (80-79), Cade Caughman of Mendenhall finished at 163 (87-76) competing as an individual, and Tyler Jelks 168 (82-86).

Taking medalist honors was Grant Mottler of Mississippi Gulf Coast 142 (71-71). Joining Mottler on the All-Tournament Team was teammate Conner Entriken of Gulf Coast, Co-Lin’s Ross and Desormeaux, and Meridian’s Connor Cavin.

Co-Lin returns to action on Feb. 28-March in the Hinds-Co-Lin Invitational at Eagle Ridge Country Club and Wolf Hollow Golf Course.
