Co-Lin splits with Delta after game one blowout

WESSON – The Copiah-Lincoln Wolves split a Wednesday doubleheader with the Mississippi Delta Trojans in Wesson. The Wolves raced out to a huge early lead and coasted to an 11-0 win in game one. In game two the Wolves had the tying run on second with one out, but failed to advance him in a 10-9 defeat.

Co-Lin 11, Delta 0 (5 Innings)

The games were originally scheduled to take place in Moorhead, before the recent winter weather in the delta forced the venue change. Co-Lin came out and showed that they weren’t planning on letting the cold blustery weather bother them, as the Wolves sent 13 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning.

Jeremy Moore got the Wolves on the board first with an RBI single that scored leadoff hitter Jordan Antley. Moore was brought home on an RBI single by Adrian Brown. Co-Lin led 8-0 after one inning.

Tanner Parvin added two RBIs, a single in the second inning and a double in fourth inning. Sophomore Shane Brown picked up his first win (1-1) with five complete innings of shutout ball.

Delta 10, Co-Lin 9 

The Wolves got a first inning homerun from outfielder Adrian Brown and another RBI by Parvin to take a 2-1 lead after two innings. Delta would score three runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 4-3 lead.

The Trojans would score four runs in the top of the fifth inning to take an 8-6 lead. Co-Lin would tie the game at 8-8 after six complete, but the Trojans answered with two runs in the top of the seventh inning. Co-Lin used six pitchers in game two in an attempt to slow down the Trojan bats.

Co-Lin (4-4) returns to action on Friday, February 20 when they host Panola College for a 2 p.m. doubleheader in Wesson.
