Lady Cats capture two wins in season opener

The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats softball team kicked off their 2015 season with a pair of victories in West Lincoln’s softball classic Saturday.

The Lady Cats defeated Enterprise 8-3 and edge Natchez Cathedral Lady Green Wave 6-5.

The Lady Cats (2-0) are schedule to be in action today against the Brookhaven Lady Panthers, but it has been postponed until March 31 due to the weather. BC will return to action Thursday, if weather permits, as they host the Lawrence County Lady Cougars. The junior varsity is schedule to start at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.

BC 8, Enterprise 3 

The Lady Cats and Lady Jackets battled in close scoreless contest until Enterprise managed to push across two runs in the top of the second inning to lead 2-0.

In the bottom of the second inning, BC exploded with a 7-run blast to capture the lead at 7-2.

In the fourth inning, both teams traded one run apiece as BC cruise to the victory.

Codi Leggett was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with two strikeouts and three walks.

Alana Nettles powered the Lady Cats at the plate with three singles. Cherie Savoie and Leggett ripped a double each. Hitting safely were Mallory Allen, Reagan Kirkland and Colby Kirkland.

BC 6, Cathedral 5 

The Lady Cats and the Lady Green Wave fought to an 2-all tie after two innings of action, before BC took commanding of the lead in the top of the third inning scoring one run to lead 3-2.

The Lady Cats would score one run each in the fifth, sixth and seventh to increase their lead to 6-2.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Cathedral rallied back with a 3-run surge, but BC’s defense managed to step up to record the final out to get the win.

Alana Nettles was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with 10 strikeouts and three walks.

Baileigh Jackson led the Lady Cats at the plate with two singles. Mallory Allen provided a double. Hitting safely were Codi Leggett, Daley Roberts, Karley Leake and Nettles.
