WESSON – The Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats traveled up Highway 51 to roll over the Lady Cobras Tuesday night. The Lady Bobcats took the lead early in the first inning and cruise to the win with a final score of 9-4.

Wesson will travel to St. Andrews Thursday to face the Lady Saints. Game time is 4 p.m. Bogue Chitto will host a varsity doubleheader against the Mount Olive Lady Pirates, starting at 5 p.m.

The Lady Bobcats defeated the Lady Cobras in a 9-4 win. Alana Nettles was the winning pitcher for Bogue Chitto with eight strikeouts and two walks. Lead fielder and hitter for the Lady Bobcats was Christian Black with seven outs on first base and three singles that averaged three RBIs.

Zariah Matthews and Nettles also helped at the plate with two singles apiece. Terrah Nelson and Cherie Savoie provided a double apiece. Hitting safely were Mallory Allen and Karly Leake.

Lady Bobcat coach Scott Leggett commented on the win, “The girls did a good job and hit the ball. I am pleased with the girls considering they had a huge lay off and haven’t played in 10 days.”

Lady Cobras’ pitcher, Carrie McSweyn, had four strikeouts and one walk. Amber Brinson also pitched and had four strikeouts and one walk. Top hitter for the Lady Cobras was Catherine Wilson who hit a double and a single. Brooke Jones worked second base and made three outs and two assists.
