The Tuesday evening hit parade continued Thursday as the Brookhaven Academy Cougars pounded the baseball on their way to a convincing 12-2 victory over the visiting Prentiss Christian Saints.

The Cougars collected 15 hits led by Zach Dickerson’s three hit, four RBI night including a third inning two-run home run. Alex Smith had a double and two singles on the evening. Heath Hickman, Carter Culbertson and Brice White each hit safely twice. JP Jackson, Madison Smith and Connor Dorman rounded out BA 15-hit performance.

“It was nice to see our bats come alive,” commented BA Head Coach Casey Edwards. “I’m proud of our guys continuing to work hard and give a solid effort each night out.” Blake Greenlee and Steven Colson had the lone hits for PCS.

Heath Hickman pitched five solid innings allowing just two hits and striking out eight Saints batters. Alex Smith closed the book on PCS with three K’s in an inning of work.

“Heath (Hickman) wasn’t his best early but found his rhythm and pitched well with the lead,” said Edwards. “Another nice job by Alex Smith to come in and close the door at the end.” Greenlee absorbed the loss for the Saints.

BA JV blanks PCS 

Brookhaven Academy Cougars JV jumped out to an early lead on Prentiss Christian and cruised to a convincing 13-0 victory.

The game was decided quickly as Brookhaven Academy Cougars JV exerted its will early with eight runs in the first three innings. Carter Culbertson led BA with three singles. Fisher Warren added a triple and a double to the BA hit ledger. Madison Smith, Jaden Clark and Chase Freeman each singled twice for the Cougars. Taylor Freeny doubled, Dylan Burt, Levi Smith and Dawson Zumbro each hit safely to round out BA’s 15-hit attack.

JP Jackson shut down Prentiss on the bump for BA. Prentiss managed just one hit off of Jackson, who struck out six during his three innings of work. Carter Culbertson struck out two in a short relief appearance.
